HIPODROM MOST is a part of The Recultivation Park in Velebudice which is on of the top projects of the so-called recultivation method respected worldwide. In connection with considerations on using Velebudice stock-pile, the intention of building a recultivation park as an area for relaxation and health had been carried out of which racing has become a dominant feature.
It was undoubtedly clear the Velebudice stock-pile is one of the biggest stock-piles in the former Northern Bohemia Brown Coal Territory, which was gradually created from upper soils of Jan Šverma Plant on an approximate overall area 790 hectares. The purpose and goal of the effort was recovering the social importance of dead stock-pile areas. The result is a racecourse of world parameters. This is the one and only racecourse in the Czech Republic for flat races of lengths up to 1 ,200 m and the outer arc width is 30 m and width of inner rows is 20 m.
Most European racecourses are built on levelled natural ground. This is why building of the racecourse from its foundations is a rare venture not only in the Czech Republic but also in Europe. The racecourse structure was designed in order to meet requirements imposed on it, to be sufficiently stable and flexible. If required, the grass can be either subirrigated or quickly water-drained along the length of the racecourse. An absolutely unique feature is the great training course located outside the racecourse, something out-of-the-ordinary for other Czech racecourses. Training on either sandy or grassy surfaces is possible on 43 hectares.
The main subject of Hipodrom´s business activity is the organization of horse races. The race course in Most has been inviting horse racing supporters since September 1997, when the first horse race took place. Hipodrom Most annually hold eight races, where over 600 horses introduce themselves at the race lists. These numbers show the success of Hipodrom to rank among the top race courses in the Czech Republic and become the North Bohemia domain of racing sport.
Racing sport is interesting for spectators of all age groups, for the little ones with horse riding lessons and attractions, for the adults with the dynamics of this sport and the posibility to bet on their favorite. To completely utilise the area for equine sports, a show jumping arena was constructed in the area, and is used both for organizing show jumping events and dressage and for relaxing horse riding with a training programme for visitors of the race course.
HIPODROM MOST a.s. does not only focus on organizing racing and show jumping meetings but also different cultural and social events. The company tries to make the area available to the public all year long. A new in-line track has been built recently at Hipodrom Most and in-line skaters are very excited about it. The in-line track copies the shape of race course, iIt is 3370 m long with an excellent blacktop. 1500 meters of the track is reversible and 5 meters wide. At last 1870 meters it carries on one-way and it is 3 meters wide.
HIPODROM - green oasis of Most - attract around one hundred thousand visitors a year. That shows the evidence of fulfilling the original thought of stock-pile transformation in the the sport, cultural and sociable area for the general public.
